What is a WAV?
A wheelchair accessible vehicle is a car or van which has been adapted and modified to carry a passenger who is in a wheelchair
Are WAVs called anything else?
WAVs have a number of differebt names but they all refer to the same thing – a car that has been adapted to accommodate a wheelchair passenger or driver.
Some common names:

Is motability the same as a WAV?
Not quite.
Motability is a scheme that allows disabled/wheelchair users obtain a vehicle with funding assistance.
A WAV is a vehicle which has been converted to carry a wheelchair passenger or driver
Are all wheelchairs compatible with all WAVS?
Most wheelchairs will fit into most WAVs. However there are certain larger wheelchair which may well require a larger vehicle.
WAVS come in all shapes an sizes and in some cases you may want to check the available space before buying a WAV. Some websites like WavsGB offer a wheelchair size checker
Where can I buy a hybrid or electric wheelchair vehicle?
At time of writing (Feb 2022) – there are not many electric WAVs available. The most popular one the Nissan eNV200 is currently very hard to get hold of.
During 2022 we anticipate that there will be a larger range of e-WAVs available.
